Fall is a REally exciting time: REturning, REcruiting and…Recharter
Fall has always been a time where our children return to school; school night recruiting introduces new faces to the Scouting journey and…like clockwork…time to get ready for the annual unit charter renewal process.
We’ve already seen record-setting recruiting numbers with our council recruiting more young ladies into Cub Scouting than any other council in the Southern Region. We’re off to a great start bringing the Full Family of Scouting to everyone in Central Florida Council.
Unit charter renewal is also right around the corner. Now is the time to do unit membership inventories. Every year we find unregistered Scouts actively working on rank advancement and joining in activities. We also find Scouts whose families have moved away or dropped out. Now is the time to ensure your unit rosters are as accurate as possible prior to the charter renewal rosters being generated in mid-October. It really simplifies the charter renewal process when you open the online system and see an accurate roster.
Hopefully every unit is seeing growth this recruiting season. It is critically important that the new Scouts are properly registered and on unit rosters, if possible, before charter renewal packages are distributed at October Roundtables.
Here are two tricks that will pay big dividends this charter renewal season:
First, keep the unit copy of every registration application handy. It saves a lot of time if one of your members doesn’t show up on the roster.
Second, ensure everyone in your unit has completed the new version of Youth Protection Training.
