News from the Central Florida Council Advancement Committee
Conservation has always been a key element in the Boy Scouts of America program. Ernest Thompson Seton, one of the founders of the BSA, was an author, wildlife artist, and founder of the Woodcraft Indians. Seton also influenced Lord Baden-Powell. The BSA has been a positive force in conservation and environmental efforts. When planning service projects, units should strongly consider projects which benefit their sponsoring institution and projects which are conservation oriented. The BSA offers a number of conservation awards to recognize youth and adult volunteers for their efforts. These awards and the requirements for them can be found at https://www.scouting.org/outdoor-programs/conservation-and-environment/conservation-awards-and-recognitions/.
