Commissioner’s Corner, November 2017
Our Team Concept
One of the goals of the Apopka Shores District Commissioner Team is to support all our units and help you in your goal of “Delivering the Promise of Scouting” to your youth. Unfortunately, the district does not have commissioners for every unit. What we have done is to divide the commissioner staff into local community Teams. Example; the Apopka Team under Assistant District Commissioner Richard Cady meets locally in Apopka with the Commissioners and the unit leaders. This allows the units to work closer with the commissioner in supporting your units.
We are developing two more local Teams, one in Clermont and one in Winter Garden / Ocoee. These Team are led by Senior District Commissioner Anderson Reid. Both Team need commissioners to support all our units.
The District Want YOU! For our YOUTH. Any Scouter or Community Leaders are welcome to become a Unit Serving Commissioner. If your unit has Scouter(s) interested in helping youth or have questions about Commissioner Service please contact Robert Monto, District Commissioner at email@example.com
Our Team concept does not stop with these three Unit Serving Teams. Our LDS Team is supported by Assistant District Commissioner (ADC) Mike Saunders. Our Exploring Team is supported by ADC John Larsen. Both Teams are looking for specialists in the LDS program and the Exploring Program in Law Enforcement and Aviation.
Our Roundtable Team is headed up by ADC Rolando Vargas with Roundtable Commissioner for Cub Scouting and Boy Scouting. Rolando is seeking “Consultants” (experts in scouting Skills and all areas relating to the program. If you have an interest or know of skilled Scouters and consultants contact Rolando at our third Thursday night Roundtable at Oakland Presbyterian Church. Or Email Rolando at firstname.lastname@example.org
Another Key Support Team, Commissioner Training is led by ADC Robert Foley, Yes, even commissioners must be trained just like our Trained Unit Leaders. Bob is looking to add Unit Commissioners to help in Training our Commissioner Team as well as supporting our Unit Commissioners on a New Unit Team and other unit support concerns. Robert Foley can be contacted at email@example.com
None of this would be possible without our Unit Commissioners who visit and support our Units. The District Commissioner Team has started a District’s Unit Commissioner of the Month program who stands out each month for exceptional Service each month. Our First two Commissioners so honored are:
September Unit Commissioner Robert Mullin (Apopka Team)
October Unit Commissioner Gordon Tyson (Ocoee / Winter Garden team)
Congratulation to these Unit Serving Commissioners.
