January 2017 Roundtable Reminders

Happy New Year & thank you to all of the Scouters, Scouts & guests for attending Roundtable.

Starting in 2017 your Commissioner Staff have made a few changes to the Roundtable program. Adult Leader Court of Honor will be held in January, May and September. We want to recognize our volunteers for their outstanding leadership & contributions. Contact your Unit Commissioner for more information to schedule a future award recognition.

Congratulations to Commissioner Greg Caskie on receiving the 50 Year Veteran award! Commissioner Caskie joined Cub Scouts in 1964, attained the rank of Eagle Scout March 18, 1974 and has been an active adult volunteer across Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and many District positions ever since.

Congratulations to Commissioner John Jackim on receiving the District Committee Scouter’s Training Award.

Units are encouraged to sign-up to perform the opening Flag & Reverent Service at Roundtable. See Mr. Stafford to reserve  your space. Units will receive a certificate of appreciation for their service.

Increasing Roundtable attendance is an important goal. We know that everyone’s schedule is full and you may not be able to make it every month. In order to make our general session available to a wider audience we will start sharing a Phone Conference bridge. If you are unable to make the meeting this is your chance to not miss out.

  • How do I attend?
    • A Phone Number & Conference Code will be sent out a few days before Roundtable
    • Dial in from your home phone or mobile device 5-10 minutes before the meeting starts
    • Download the FreeConferenceCall application for your phone, tablet or computer and “join” the meeting
  • What will I hear?
    • The call will be limited to the general session (first 30 minutes of the meeting)
    • There may be times when you don’t hear any conservation, we will have to work on the room acoustics
  • Can I speak?
    • A future goal will be to take questions from the callers
      • We don’t have the room audio/video system working to take live questions
  • Can you respond to questions from the mobile app
    • Not at this time, we will work to make that available
  • How can I help?
    • We are looking for Troop/Crew/Post/Ship youth interested in running the technology
      • Monitor the live app text/chat feature
      • Setup & record the general session & breakout sessions for podcast/video playback
    • You can contact Craig Tarr for more details

This is not an excuse to skip coming to Roundtable. It is extremely important for the face-to-face meetings, breakout discussions and opportunity to get help from your District & Council representatives.

Watch your email & Facebook page for February’s call-in / web invitation.

Electronic Sign-In

2016 saw over 560 electronic sign-in’s for Roundtable! Remember that your attendance is important, we need up-to-date contact details (phone & email) for everyone of our volunteers. Your unit also gets credit towards “Perfect Attendance” and “Most Participation” at Round Table, awarded at the District Banquet.

Remember to Save Time and check-in from your Mobile Device! That’s right use the phone in your pocket to sign-in before you arrive!!
